Precautions for Drinking Pu’er Tea tea

Pu’er tea is a green and healthy tea drink, which contains many nutrients and is good for the body to drink regularly. However, drinking Pu’er tea is also taboo, and improper drinking can lead to side effects. Therefore, to drink Pu’er tea, we should keep a good habit of drinking tea.Below are the key precautions to note when consuming Pu’er tea:

1、Don’t drink Pu’er tea on an empty stomach.

Although Pu’er tea has the function of promoting digestion and strengthening the stomach, it contains a certain amount of tannic acid, which can reduce the digestion and decomposition of food by pepsin and pancreatin. Drinking strong (raw) Pu’er tea on an empty stomach is easy to stimulate and destroy the gastric wall mucosa, which can easily lead to gastrointestinal dysfunction and hunger for a long time. Serious cases can lead to hypoglycemia, which is harmful to the body. It can even cause palpitation, headache, stomach discomfort, dizziness, upset and other “drunk tea” phenomena.

2、Drink a moderate amount of Pu’er tea before going to bed

Although Pu’er tea has a tranquilizing effect, drinking too much before going to bed will still affect sleep, so it is recommended to drink it in moderation. Pu’er raw tea contains a large amount of caffeine, so it is generally recommended to drink a small amount at night, and it is better to drink it 2 hours before going to bed. But be sure not to drink strong tea or drink too much.

3、Do not drink overnight Pu’er tea

After the Pu’er tea is brewed for a long time, harmful substances such as heavy metals will be separated out from the tea, and a large amount of tea polyphenols will be oxidized, which will make the tea color muddy and reduce the health care effect. A cup of clear green tea, especially in the case of high temperature for a long time, will lose green and increase the degree of yellow. This is the oxidation of tea polyphenols in tea water to form yellow-red and red-brown oxidation products, mainly theaflavins, thearubigins, theabrownins and so on.

In addition, Pu’er tea brewed in insulated cups should not be drunk regularly, and overnight Pu’er tea should not be drunk.

4、Drink Pu’er tea alongside other teas, not exclusively

Pu’er tea should be drunk alternately with other tea leaves, not only the same kind of tea, in order to maintain a balanced nutrition.

5、Drink Pu’er tea regularly, not intermittently

Hua Tuo, a famous doctor in ancient times, put forward the argument that “eating bitter tea for a long time is beneficial to thinking” in his Treatise on Food. Drinking Pu’er tea requires constant flow of water without interruption, otherwise, it is difficult to achieve the effect of health preservation.

6、Avoid drinking a lot of Pu’er tea before and after meals.

Drinking a lot of Pu’er tea before and after meals will affect digestion and should be avoided. Drinking a lot of Pu’er tea before meals will dilute saliva and affect food digestion. Drinking after meals should be done at the right time, not blindly. It’s better to be one hour apart after meals to really achieve the best effect of health care.

Therefore, before meals and within half an hour after meals, it is not appropriate to drink tea, in order to avoid indigestion, it is better to drink water after meals.

7、The freshly made Pu’er tea should not be drunk too much.

From a nutritional point of view, the newly made Pu’er tea has not been placed for a period of time, and the nutrients have not been oxidized. Some elderly patients with gastric acid deficiency and chronic gastric ulcer may have adverse reactions if they drink it for a long time.

8、Pregnant women, menstrual women, insomnia patients should not drink Pu’er tea.

  • Pu’er tea contains more theophylline, caffeine and so on, easy to stimulate the nerve center, if pregnant women drink excessive excitement, may cause insomnia, may also stimulate uterine contraction, causing abdominal discomfort.
  • Pu’er tea is cold in nature. If women drink Pu’er tea during menstruation, it may stimulate the uterus and cause dysmenorrhea. In addition, some women have hormone disorders during this period, which may be more emotional, and may aggravate emotional problems under the stimulation of caffeine.
  • Insomnia patients themselves have poor sleep quality and are not easy to fall asleep. If they drink Pu’er tea, the caffeine in it excites their nerves and easily makes it more difficult to fall asleep.
